…what do you do while waiting for a plane.

I flew to Cork on Friday [8pm Dublin - Cork] AerArann. The plane was slighly late. Apology came over the intercom. Accepted. Slightly nervous on planes anyway, we hit turbulence. The Air hostess, a young Lady was straight over in seconds to see how bad I was and if she could do anything? Good service deserves applause.

When we arrived to stay in Cork International Airport Hotel my mind was blown away. I’d heard about this place from Damien Mulley. This now, is one of my top 5 hotels of all time. The interior is breathtaking, unusual and inspirational. For once in my life the ‘smoking’ room is, for sure something [unusually here] we all would admire. However, from the moment one gets off the plane a phone call ‘skype’ style to the reception, the pick up, the staff [all] are all superb. You are made feel welcome. This is maybe unusual for a hotel, but if that be so, for an airport hotel, wowee!

There’s always one: A couple beside me on Sunday were having lunch. They ate almost everything. Then complained. ‘I could have made better wedges & the steak sandwich was and the… we’re not paying!’ I thought, but you… there’s nothing left, I thought. [I had a case like this recently]. The staff were well mannered & polite and unfortunately [who am I to talk] the money came off the bill. I hope they keep their word and never come back.

Whilst Cork Airport really needs to plant anything, one, a few hundred some trees and soften [landscape style] the grounds, the hotel has done its best with their surrounds and what they have – but [for once in a long time] the interior design and the staff deserve applause.
